Are you ready to do something different?

Our specialties

Trauma Processing

We specialize in helping people work through traumatic experiences. Trauma doesn’t just mean going to war—it also means bullying, being called names, harassment, assault, feeling unsafe in your body. Trauma can find its way into our lives even when we don’t expect it. Using both verbal and non-verbal processes, we can help you begin to think about your self in a way that aligns with who you are today.

Women Centered Concerns

Women face unique challenges in our world: motherhood, infertility, postpartum depression/anxiety/ocd/rage, juggling expectations from home and work, trying to be assertive without being called a “bitch”, discrimination, self-esteem, living in the chaos of everyday life. We will help you tune out all of the noise and find your truth and direction, all the while understanding, respecting, and amplifying your voice and experience.

Anxiety Reduction and Transformation

We also specialized in treating anxiety that can stem from stressful life situations or even seems to come out of nowhere. Using a mindfulness based approach, you can begin to strengthen your brain so that your body and mind can remember to protect you, transforming your anxiety from your kryptonite to your superpower.

Developmental Relational Trauma

Are you ready to change your story of inherited trauma? Adults who were once children with parents who couldn’t always meet their needs struggle to develop a sense of safety, trust, or confidence in themselves and others. I can help you untangle the complexity of your history so that your future story is written by YOU, not by the patterns of your parents and grandparents before you.

But what do we do?

Art Therapy

Art therapy is a technique that uses the creative process to help improve your overall wellbeing. Your skilled therapist will walk with you, guiding you through your works of art and your approach to the process to help you gain personal insight, improve your judgment, cope with stress, and work through traumatic experiences. No artistic experience necessary.

Attachment Theory

Attachment-based therapy is form of therapy that is based on understanding how the relationship between a parent and child influences social and emotional development. Because the relationship with your parents is the first relationship you experience as a human, it becomes the basis for which you learn about, and form opinions about, yourself and the world around you.

CBT

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is based on the belief that your thoughts cause negative feelings. Your therapist may incorporate CBT techniques to assist you in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting beliefs and behaviors that are not serving you or your purpose. CBT has been clinically proven to help clients in a relatively short amount of time with a wide range of disorders, including depression and anxiety.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) combines elements of CBT to help with regulating emotion through distress tolerance and mindfulness skill building. The goal of Dialectical Behavior Therapy is to alleviate intense emotional pain and to gain balance in your world.

Ego State Therapy

An “ego state” is a part of self that represents the way in which we think, feel and behave and makes up our personality. They can arise as an adaptation to various life circumstances. We all have a variety of ego states and together these states make up who we are, how we feel, and how we react. Sometimes conflict occurs internally between parts of self and can manifest as anxiety, depression, lack of self confidence among other things. By exploring and working with the different parts of ourselves you can gain a better understanding of your internal world and find relief in your everyday life.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy aims to reduce distressing emotions associated with traumatic memories or distressing triggers/body sensations by using rapid eye movements, audio tones, or taps. During EMDR you hold your memories in your mind while moving your eyes back and forth and this helps to desensitize the memory’s charge, thereby transforming it from traumatic to a neutral memory.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness based therapy encourages you to reflect on moments, thoughts, or emotions without passing judgment. It can help you to distinguish between past vs present, emotions vs reality, or thoughts vs truths. By allowing yourself the opportunity to be present-focused in a calm body and calm mind, you will be better equipped to reach your goals, understand your mindset, and gain a mastery over life’s unpleasant occurrences.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy involves bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness. This will help you promote insight and resolve conflict within yourself and with others. Psychodynamic therapy is also used as a way to learn about how you relate to everyone in your life.

“In order to live life outside the lines, we have to be willing to take risks, do things differently than everyone else. That risk takes courage—but the reward? It can be life changing.”
